FAQ's

Key Questions before your Purchase
Making the right choice of tank is made easier by asking yourself the following key questions.
1. What roof surface area do you have available, keeping in mind the positioning of your down pipes and the area of the roof they service? Utilise the chart opposite along with local rainfall statistics to calculate how many litres you can collect.
2. What space do you have available either in one or more locations and what is the height of your eaves and gutters?
3. What will the water you harvest be used for (e.g. gardens, washing cars, internal appliances etc..) and how many litres do you think you will need on a week by week basis? On average most suburban pumps distribute approx. 30 to 35 litres per minute.
4. Ideally how many weeks storage would you like to collect in a good downpour?
5. For those with existing homes, are there Government rebates available in your area and if so what litreage and installation requirements do they stipulate? If you are building a home, what do local building codes mandate?
6. Are there other regulations in your area? For instance, most local governments call for a 450mm to 600mm gap between a tank wall and the property line. Answer these questions, perhaps with the help of your local distributor and you'll be sure to acquire the right water tanks for your property. At EGR we recommend that you install the largest possible tank or tanks (they can be joined together) as you will most likely be pleasantly surprised by how quickly they fill up!
7. Water Tank Delivery EGR tanks are usually delivered by one of our distributors. We recommend that delivery is carefully arranged with your supplier at the time of purchase. To ensure safe and efficient delivery and location of your EGR tank, topics to discuss include access for the tank and delivery vehicle, idiosyncrasies of tank location, (e.g. a crane may be required), safe storage of the tank prior to installation and any handling assistance that may be required.
